I studied. Bought hundreds of books. Read them. Re-read them. Became a road warrior. Traveled to conferences, had a spiritual conversion, “went to India” so to speak, taped up notes, flyers, and posters on the wall like a mad man. I was determined to uncover the secrets. I spent five years and more than one hundred thousand dollars learning, studying everything from behavioral psychology, humanistic psychology, storytelling, data & analytics, statistics, research methods, UX, branding and positioning, copywriting, a/b testing, video, lean/agile/Kanban methodologies, funnel marketing, automation, customer experience, biz dev, community building, CRO, email, event marketing, content marketing, SEO, paid digital ads, partnerships, social media, and viral.
In short, I studied it all. I even studied zoology, mathematics, data science, philosophy, epistemology, economics, and ANYTHING AT ALL that could give me some insight into creating an “election day-like” flood of customers on demand.
After a lot of unpleasant experimentations and experiencing the grimacing pain of trying and failing, things started to click. My results improved slowly, but surely. My confidence (and my bank account) started to grow. I was onto something!
